the Corner" by Jenny Colgan is the book for you. For fans of libraries,

The English village novel isn't necessarily my cup of tea (pun intended.) However, I picked this up based on a recommendation from the library's winter reading list and was pleasantly surprised. Author Helen Simonson had some interesting things to say about the role of tradition and the pervasiveness of xenophobia. Plus, it was nice to read something on the lighter and cozier side in the tail end of 2016. I would recommend this one. - Alex L.
