Adult Summer Reading Patron Reviews: Domestic Fiction

It's all about the family with this week's adult patron book reviews. These stories focus on relationships that are healed by bridges, beach houses, and a Sheltie in a baby sling. Our Summer Reading Challenge ends on August 15th, so you still have time to log your books. Have you read a book that you really liked or disliked? Write a review and we might use it for our blog! The Wonder Garden by Lauren Acampora

This book is based on a real story. I was intrigued by the title and extremely delighted by the writing and the story. The portrayal of the characters is very believable. I thoroughly enjoyed it and am looking forward to reading more books by this talented author. ~ Katherine R.

Separation Anxiety by Laura Zigman

Nice story about where many couples find themselves 13 years into a marriage. I probably would have passed right by this book, as I'm not usually a fiction reader, if not for the cover of a woman wearing her sheltie in a baby sling. An intriguing concept to fill the void after recent losses and provide a sense of security where she's not sure one still exists. Amusing scenarios revolve around the family, her tween son's school, and her husband, which gives hope that things will turn out all right in the end. ~ Linda J.

The Last Anniversary by Liane Moriarty

The book was good with a nice story line. Many twist and turns. Definitely not believable, but a good read. ~ Pam M.

Bridge of Clay by Markus Zusak

The style of writing and genre was not a type I'd read before. The writing was very poetic. There was barely any plot. It is just about the lives of Clay and his brothers. I still don't really understand why he built the bridge in the first place. ~ Yucheng Z.
